Objectives
1. Determine the impact of psychosocial factors, including cognitions, behaviors, emotions, and relationships on patient's experience of pain.
2. Demonstrate the role of the biopsychosocial model of chronic pain management.
3. Demonstrate the basic principles and techniques of 4 different methods of behavioral treatment of chronic pain (self-regulatory treatments, behavioral treatments including fear avoidance model, cognitive behavioral treatment and acceptance and commitment-based treatment).
4. Identify elements of self-regulatory, behavioral treatment including fear avoidance model, cognitive behavioral treatment and acceptance and commitment-based treatment of chronic pain that can be adapted to daily practice.
5. Demonstrate techniques of psychoeducation for patients regarding chronic pain management using behavioral techniques.
